The Acceleration initiative employs a strategy aimed at reducing achievement gaps by implementing a frontloading approach for upcoming English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics core content and vocabulary. This involves introducing key concepts and terminology 1-2 weeks ahead of scheduled classroom instruction. The early exposure allows a select group of students to establish and reinforce their background knowledge, facilitating a smoother learning process during core instruction. Accelerated students gain a foundational understanding of:

  • The real-world relevance and purpose of the concept.
  • Critical vocabulary, including visual and auditory recognition.
  • Basic skills necessary for mastering the concept.
  • New skills required to master the concept.
  • The overall trajectory of instructional content.
